The Earthguard: The Founding of the Clans

Rimgard. The last bastion of human civilization. For months, the humans had fought, but the aliens were too numerous, and the humans too few. Two days ago, Belatona had fallen to an army of Plasma Slugs and Panthers, and the outpost of Osark had suddenly been wiped out. With the two final defenses of Rimgard down, its citizens had no choice but to pick up their arms and face the enemy. It was then that the elite soldiers of the planet arose from the ashes to take on do their duty: protect Rimgard. It was then that they took on the name of the Earthguard, in honor of their abandoned planet.

March 13th, 2552:     The Moment of Decision

On the outskirts of Rimgard, the elite cohort of armored soldiers lay in wait for the enemy. It was here and now that would matter. A huge army, the last of human civilization, had been formed, and it set out to meet the alien hordes in combat. The Earthguard were first. As the aliens came through, they were mowed down by the latest technology that humans had to offer: laser cannons. However, the enemy force was too strong, with rhinos absorbing far too much damage. The laser cannons quickly overheated, and the Earthguard retreated back to the main army to regroup and rearm. Then, the bulk of the two forces met, marines taking on hordes of aliens. Alien after alien fell, but more kept coming. Just when all seemed to be lost, four brave leaders rallied the troops to push back the aliens for once and for all. They succeeded.

April 12th, 2553:     The Clans Arise

A year and a month after the momentous battle that changed the course of the Human-Alien War, the last remaining monsters were hunted down and wiped out. Those warriors, with nothing to do, quickly began bickering and quarreling with each other. They fought over loot, over weapons, and over the latest technology. Soon, humanity threatened to become involved in a civil war, one which would destroy their planet and devastate their population. As the arguing began to turn to bloodshed, four leaders rose up. They silenced the angry voices and quelled the fights. The human nation was united, but four individual factions were created. They were led by capable leaders, the leaders who had commanded the thousands of troops a year ago. Clans were their identification. If someone had a problem, they would resolve it in a clan war. Eventually, more clans emerged, each seeking their own voice in the general public.
